Effort - Not Time and Money

Students and parents often ask, '“How much time do I have to study to get a good score”? The answer isn’t in hours, but effort. Usually there’s a correlation between the two, but more hours doesn’t always equate to better effort. We all know some study hours (no phone, no internet) are better than others (while simultaneously looking at TikTok).

Just as more hours won’t necessarily get you a better score, neither will more money. There’s certainly an investment to be made in helping students get the resources they need, but it shouldn’t be a bank-draining amount.

To get a good score, you do need to invest time and money (two measurables), and while there’s no exact amount of each, or perfect combination of the two, we believe in being reasonable with both. If the effort is there, we think about 50 hours (give or take) is enough: this equates to an average of one hour a day over a seven week stretch. As for your financial investment, we know we’re on the conservative side.

Without naming our competitors (easy enough to look up), their prices range from about $175 per hour (seems a little high) to $399 (video only structure - which is the least effective learning format) to $999 (includes only 4 hours of live tutoring) to $1,599 (virtual classroom offered at non-flexible dates and times).

We believe we have the best combination of learning methods at a very competitive cost. Three plans, each with at least six hours of personalized, 1-1 tutoring at times convenient to you, plus more than 1,300 questions in book format. Yes, book. Believe it or not, learning via paper and pencil leads to better comprehension and retention than watching a video or reading something on a screen (see What Makes Us Unique).

And there’s no contract - if at any point you don’t believe our tutoring is providing your student with the best instruction, we’ll prorate the amount based on the number of tutoring sessions taken so far and let you move on.

We are the premier 1-1 tutoring program for the ACT and SAT. See for yourself.
